IDC - Equinix Network Edge Leverages SDN and NFV to Enhance Edge Networking

With Equinix Network Edge services a customer can choose a metro area, select and deploy edge devices, and connect to Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric™ (ECX Fabric™) within minutes without additional hardware. According to an IDC analyst report, organizations can simplify by centralizing and virtualizing the networking infrastructure to reduce capex while improving performance and agility. Network Edge leverages software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) platforms to improve edge networking.

Highlights:

Network Edge customers can select, configure, and connect network and security devices from providers including Cisco, Juniper Networks, and Palo Alto Networks.
Using Network Edge with ECX Fabric, the virtual edge devices can be connected to network providers and clouds in other markets.
• Network Edge virtual network services include SD-WAN edge gateways, multicloud edge routers and distributed edge firewalls.
Network Edge is available at Equinix's Silicon Valley, New York, London, Amsterdam and Singapore locations with new locations coming soon.
